I thought I'd put together a list of predictions for MIX 08.  Some could happen, some will happen and some could not happen, you decide! Steve Ballmer gives Keynote in black turtleneck and jeans. IE 8 demo IE 8 uses the ''Office Ribbon'' toolbar. Popfly version 2.0, now with DLR SilverLight 2.0 Expression Design running on a ...

  • MIX is not about the web

In the new MIX08 podcast found at ''The Signal'', during episode 2 or 3, it's stated that MIX is all about the Web (not the exact quote).  I disagree.  MIX is about UX.  It's about the tools and technologies from Microsoft to build those experiences. Its about getting designers, developers, architects and ...

  • Free Expression Training

Found via Aussie UX Evangelist, Shane Morris, get free online Expression training from lynda.com.  The course covering the RTM version of Expression Blend looks good to me.  I'll have to get to it afterward.  Right now, I'm enjoying the WPF virtual bootcamp CD (Disc 3) that came with my MIX 07 goodies.  If you ...

  • Microsoft needs to create this URL "www.microsoft.com/ux"

After MIX07 more and more people will be looking around Microsoft.com for information about UX or User Experience.  If you search for it from the Microsoft home page here's what you get.    A multitude of results sprinkled around the Microsoft site.      There's links from MSDN, there's a link to ...

  • Great MIX sessions today

So far today has been a hit with sessions.  I attended the Clement Mok did a session on Agency 2.0 which really had great inofrmation.  I'll post some thoughts later about his talk from a architecture viewpoint.  Then I attended the Microsoft Dynamics demo and finally! A LOB application that uses the power of WPF that doesn't ...

  • Open the iPhone with Silverlight

While sitting in the keynote here at MIX, watching Scott Gu flip back and forth between a Mac and Windows, I thougth that using Silverlight would possibly be a great way to run app's on your iPhone.  It will be interesting to see what happens when the phone is out and what we can do with Silverlight by then.   Seanmix07

  • Microsoft Product Naming is taking a turn for the better

It looks Microsoft is finally using names that are easy to say and more memorable.  First we had ''Microsoft Expression Interactive Designer'' and then they changed it to Expression Blend.  Whomever made that change I owe you a drink (come see me at MIX and I'll pay up).  There's also Expression Design, Expression Web, Expression ...

  • Adobe CS3 has been Vistafied

I saw this on Gizmodo today and it looks like Adobe took a page from the number of versions available for Vista. Check out the table at the bottom of the page at Amazon for the number of versions.  Wow, you could go to MIX 07 and get a copy of Vista Ultimate and Expression Suite for the price of the Master Collection and have beer money left ...
